Chronic Disease Management
Diet plays a crucial role in the development and management of chronic diseases. Diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and obesity are influenced by our dietary habits, with the foods we eat impacting on chronic disease.
*Diets high in refined carbohydrates and added sugars can contribute to insulin resistance and the development of type 2 diabetes.
*Diets high in saturated fats can contribute to the development of atherosclerosis, leading to heart disease and stroke.
*Excessive salt intake can contribute to hypertension (high blood pressure), a major risk factor for CVD.
* Consuming more calories than the body needs can lead to weight gain and obesity.
Mel will provide individualised dietary advice specific to your needs, in order to manage your condition, whilst ensuring your nutritional requirements are met.
